Tunis-Carthage international airport (IATA code: TUN, ICAO code: DTTA) serves Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, and its region. Located eight kilometers north-east of Tunis, it was in 1940, at the beginning of the Second World War, that it was inaugurated.
The airport, first called Tunis-El Aouina, was renamed after the ancient city of Carthage located east of the tracks.
